Ponche Navideño is an absolute must for the holiday season!
This drink is packed with fruits like tejocote, guavas, pears, sugar cane, and prunes.
Perfect for las posadas, gatherings, Christmas or New Year celebrations to keep you cozy and warm inside!
Ingredients:
4 cups water
4 cups pineapple juice
1 cinnamon stick
4 cloves
1 star anise
1 tejocote fruit, peeled and quartered (can substitute with apples or pears)
1 guava, peeled and sliced
1 orange, sliced
1/2 cup brown sugar (adjust to taste)
1 cup diced mango
1/4 cup chamoy sauce
Mangonada paletas from La Michoacana
Instructions:
In a large pot, combine water, pineapple juice, cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
Add the tejocote fruit, guava slices, orange slices, and brown sugar. Stir well to dissolve the sugar. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the fruits are tender.
Once the fruits are soft, add the diced mango to the pot and continue to simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
Remove the pot from heat and let the ponche cool for a few minutes.
While the ponche is cooling, prepare your serving glasses. Drizzle chamoy sauce around the inner rim of each glass.
Place a Mangonada paleta from La Michoacana in each glass.
Carefully pour the warm ponche into each glass, ensuring the paleta stays intact.
Optionally, you can garnish with additional fruit slices or a sprinkle of Tajín seasoning for an extra kick.
Serve immediately while the paleta melts into the ponche, creating a deliciously flavored drink.
This Mexican Ponche with Mangonada Paletas combines the warmth of traditional ponche with the tropical flavors of mango and chamoy, giving you a unique and refreshing beverage experience. Enjoy!
