As part of our efforts to promote education and nostalgia of the authentic paleteria experience, La Michoacana is happy to present the following scholarship opportunity:
La Michoacana will award $500 to ten college students each year. All high school seniors and current college students are encouraged to apply, especially undocumented and DACA students.
Supporting education is extremely important to us, especially when it comes to helping out our community. According to a national survey of Latinos conducted by Pew Hispanic Center, a project by the Pew Research Center, nearly 89% of Latino young adults say a college education is essential for success in life, but only 48% plan to get a college degree. What was the main roadblock to going to college? Financial support, which is why we are proud to lend a helping hand.
Applying for this scholarship is simple and fun! All you have to do is send in a 15 second or less video that promotes the Paleteria Experience - which is sharing the tradition of flavor exploration with those that matter the most. It can be funny, inspiring, interesting, or artistic, whatever allows you best to express what the Paleteria Experience means to you.
Wondering what the Paleteria Experience is? The Paleteria Experience is sharing the tradition of flavor exploration with those that matter the most. From our Fresas con Cream Paletas to our Mangohelada Fruit Cups, friends and family can experience delicious Mexican-inspired ice cream together everywhere to go.
The deadline to apply is August 30th, 2021. Winners will be chosen on September 16th, 2021. Funds will go directly to the student for college expenses.
