In our efforts to spread felicidad throughout the United States with ice cream, Tropicale Foods with La Michoacana have donated to Girls on the Run Los Angeles for their Spring Fling Online Auction. We have donated an Ice Cream Party with our most popular paletas, our Variety Ice Cream Bars Pack which includes Coconut Ice Cream, Strawberries N' Cream Ice Cream, and Mango Ice Cream, to help create an incredible summer memory to last a lifetime.
Who are Girls on the Run?
Girls on the Run Los Angeles is a non-profit organization that incorporates running into their curriculum to teach girls life skills they can apply in all aspects of their lives. The results? Their participants improved by 85% in confidence, competence, caring, character, or connection. All of these being skills that will help girls face societal pressures and stress.
This spring, Girls on the Run will serve their 10,000th girl in empowering them to build social, emotional, and physical skills.
Why It Matters
Girls need us now more than ever. Studies show that girls’ self-confidence begins to fall at age 9 and about twice as much as boys. And with the added element of physical activity incorporated in their curriculum, girls learn collaborative and team-building skills. Girls on the Run found that they made a more substantial impact in teaching life skills than organized sports or physical education programs.
With our brand being represented by La Niña, a young indigenous Mexican girl, La Michoacana aims to support all young girls in learning valuable life skills.
